‘Evil’ Birmingham woman ‘treated me worse than a dog’ says female captive forced to drink bleach

Imaan Coley, aged 37, from Sparkbrook, was jailed for 14 years for effectively torturing two women

Imaan Coley kept a woman captive in her home for more than two months during which she subjected her to appalling abuse

A woman who was set on fire and made to drink bleach while held captive in her own home has branded her female tormenter ‘evil’.

In 2023 the victim had her home in Sparkbrook ‘cuckooed’ by Imaan Coley, 37, who then allowed her toyboy drug dealer boyfriend Mohammed Khan, 24, to use it as a supply base.

Birmingham Crown Court heard how the disabled woman’s movements were restricted for more than two months and that she could only leave her property with a chaperone.

But during the ordeal she was badly beaten, forced to sleep on the floor and deprived of food leaving her to forage for scraps in the bin.

And in particularly twisted acts of cruelty she had her hair set on fire and shaved, while she had bleach poured in her face after she refused to drink it.

In a heartbreaking statement the woman, who we have chosen to keep anonymous, said the incident had affected ‘every aspect’ of her life and rendered her a ‘hermit’ who was too scared to leave her own home.

She described having ‘full blown panic attacks’ at the mere sound of her door knocking as well as flashbacks, adding that her sleep schedule was ‘all over the place’.

The victim said: “At the time I thought it would be easier if I was dead.

“I took an overdose at the time to try and end my life.

“Imaan Coley didn’t even realise what I did. I wasn’t even worthy of that.”

She revealed she was now ‘addicted’ to buying junk food, admitting she ate and ate until she vomited because ‘my body isn’t telling me I’m full’.

She further detailed how her once ‘healthy and attractive’ physical appearance had changed and said: “She took my womanhood away from me.

“She cut my hair off and burnt it. I lost so much weight because she deprived me of food. I looked like a cancer patient.

“She treated me worse than a dog. In fact, the dogs she had treated me better than she did. “

A trial heard how twisted Coley had initially befriended her only to turn on her after the victim’s boyfriend left, meaning she was saddled with his drug debt to Khan.

She continued: “She told me I was better off dead, that I was a junky who didn’t deserve a house.

“If I was hungry there was dog food for me because I was an animal”

The middle-aged victim described feeling like an 80-year-old woman and has since been told she will never walk properly again due to the physical toll of Coley’s abuse.

She also recalled an incident since the attacks where she ‘absolutely lost it’ at the smell of bleach, which is now a source of ‘deep-rooted trauma’.

The woman gave a harrowing account of how Coley threw away a memory box for her still born child as well as told her that her children were ‘all retarded’ and ‘burning in hell’.

She concluded: “I still feel so angry about it. That woman will never change she will always be so evil.

“I will never forgive you for what you did and certainly never forget it.”

A trial heard how sadistic Coley went on to make her urinate in the mouth of a second woman that she and Khan tortured in 2023.

She was declared dangerous and sentenced to 14 years with a four-year extended licence on Monday, March 17 having been convicted of false imprisonment, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent, three counts of administering a noxious substance and burglary.

Khan, also from Sparkbrook, was not convicted of an offence in relation to the first victim but was heavily involved in the abuse of the second female.

He also inflicted a vicious hammer attack on a man in a separate incident.

Khan was sentenced to 11 years with an extended four-year licence having admitted two counts of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent, two counts of administering a noxious substance and one of burglary.
