Nightclub and Grade-II listed warehouse could be turned into 28 flats as £360k property goes up for sale

The site of Equator nightclub and adjoining historic warehouses will be sold at auction

Artist’s impression of the residential scheme to be developed on Lichfield Street in Walsall

Planning permission has been granted for 28 apartments at the site of a former nightclub in Walsall.

Equator on Lichfield Street closed back in 2018 just months after opening.

The site and adjoining historic warehouses are now set to be sold at auction with a guide price of £360,000.

The property will go under the hammer with planning consent in place to develop 28 residential units in a scheme that would combine new build and refurbishment.

The town centre site, which includes a Grade II listed building, will be auctioned on live by SDL Property Auctions on Thursday, March 27 with registration closing the day before.

It will be sold with consent to demolish the former nightclub, retaining the façade of the listed Victorian warehouse building next door and creating a 14,000 sq ft, 28-apartment development.

Andrew Parker, auctioneer and partner at SDL Property Auctions, said: “With planning consent already secured, this is a rare opportunity to develop an attractive residential scheme that will provide sought-after accommodation for the buoyant Walsall town centre residential market.

“Innovative developments like this one are in demand in the town and the fact that significant investment to enhance and regenerate the town centre is currently underway bodes well for this site as a really good investment opportunity.

“This Lichfield Street site is also less than half a mile from the train station and Walsall has great transport links to the likes of Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Lichfield, adding to its appeal as a place to live.”
