Snow will fall across spots in the Pennines, (Northumberland, Cumbria, County Durham, Yorkshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Derbyshire, and Staffordshire ) on March 26.
That date will see 3cm fall all the way up to Scotland, and the flurries could also materialise on March 24, which will see 4cm fall north of the border. Temperatures are likely to drop to -2C at times – sticking around until March 26.

In the short term, looking at today (March 15), the BBC predicts “sunny spells for most, along with some patchy cloud developing. Largely dry with just one or two isolated showers. Turning cloudy in far northern Scotland with some patchy rain though.”
It adds: “Tonight, clouds continue to move southwards across Scotland with the odd shower possible. Elsewhere. mainly clear skies are likely with just a few patchy clouds. A cold night with light winds.”
Looking at Sunday (March 16), the Beeb states: “Tomorrow will continue to be settled with a mix of sunny spells and variable amounts of cloud. Northern and eastern areas may see a few isolated, light showers.”
The outlook for Monday to Wednesday has also been issued. In it, the BBC says: “Monday will see areas of mist and fog lift to leave largely cloudy skies, but some brighter spells will develop later on. Tuesday will be drier, brighter and slightly milder with plenty of sunshine. Breezy.
“Wednesday will continue dry, bright and it will be even milder with plenty of sunshine. Cloud and rain will reach the north-west by the evening.”
