Netflix’s Meghan Markle series has been blasted from critics, viewers and now even Bake Off’s Dame Prue Leith
Meghan Markle can’t catch a break after the release of her new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, as even beloved Bake Off star Dame Prue Leith didn’t hold back her thoughts.
She appeared on Good Morning Britain alongside her husband John Playfair to discuss their new show Cotswold Kitchen, when hosts Kate Garraway and Rob Rinder asked her about Meghan’s new lifestyle programme.
The celebrity chef didn’t mince words, revealing: “No. I’ve only read about it but I honestly wouldn’t watch it”.

“I’m not a Meghan Markle fan. All that touchy-feely, mindfulness, endless worrying about what creams you put on your hands.”
“I just think there’s more to life than how you look and how your friends think of you,” adding, “I’ve probably alienated half my fans.”
Prue wasn’t the only one to dismiss the Netflix series, as the Daily Mail savagely wrote: “It is so awful it is almost compelling and sources within Netflix hope it will prove irresistible to a ‘hate-watch’ audience of those who don’t like Meghan.”
While Marina Hyde from The Guardian penned: “The mildest way to describe this show is as a ghastly artefact of a particular cultural era that recently met its apocalypse.”
“One of the oddest things about With Love, Meghan is that parts of it are a cooking show – think Gwyneth Paltrow does Saturday Kitchen – but she doesn’t appear to be very good at cooking, or particularly to enjoy it,” the Daily Telegraph noted.
Prue will be absent from Channel 4’s The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer this weekend; instead, one of her close friends and former co-owner and managing director of Leiths School of Food & Wine, Lady Caroline Waldegrave, is taking the chef’s place.
However, for the avoidance of doubt, Prue will be back on the programme, as she made clear to This Morning hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley.
She clarified: “It’s absolutely not true at all! [that she’s quit the show]. What I’m not doing this year is the celebrity one.
“These things are filmed back-to-back all the way through summer from April to August so you don’t get any time off. I’m getting quite old and there’s places I want to see. So I’m not doing this year’s.”
