The Mirror reports that areas south of Inverness and the Scottish Highlands would bear the brunt of the upcoming snowfall from 12pm.
Maps suggest up to eight inches could fall across the Highlands within 12 hours, with temperatures predicted to dip as low as -4C at the height of the snowfall.
The North East right down to the southwest of England were expected to see snow by 6pm, with Newcastle, Manchester, Bradford, and parts of the Yorkshire Dales in the firing line.
Bristol, Bath and Exeter were also predicted to welcome snow on Tuesday evening.
Snow coverage maps suggest the entire country would see snow or rain over a two-day period.
The Met Office has also warned that more unsettled conditions could be seen in the latter half of March.
The forecast from March 17 until March 26 stated: “The dominant area of high pressure will gradually drift away to the east of the UK through the early part of next week.
“So initially there should be a good deal of dry weather with sunny spells by day, but still some chilly nights with frost in places.
“The odd fog patch is possible in the north, and a brisk breeze across the south will make it feel chilly here when out of the sun.
“Beyond that we will see a gradual transition to less settled conditions.
“So rain or showers are expected at times, mostly focussed across the south at first, then more widely later.
“With winds predominantly coming from the south next week it will also become much milder, possibly warm in places.”
