All the Midland regions set for snow with 2cm falling every hour


Areas of the Midlands could see up to 2.38cm of snow falling every hour as the Met Office issued a six-hour warning for ice

Weather maps reveal that areas of the English Midlands could be set for snowfall in a matter of hours.

Although we’re approaching the end of the winter period, cold conditions have not yet let up.

Tomorrow on Thursday (March 13), areas of England are set for snowfall.

The snow is set to arrive in pockets throughout the day.

It comes as a separate Met Office yellow warning was issued for ice, covering areas of northern England.

Weather maps from WX Charts show snow is set to arrive in the Midlands from 12am on Thursday.

Areas of the Black Country, Staffordshire and Shropshire could experience flakes from midnight.

However areas of the Lincolnshire Wolds could see up to 2.38cm of snow falling at that time.

Birmingham could see a flakes arriving at 12pm on Thursday, with snow arriving over the North Pennines at the same time.

Snow is set to remain over Staffordshire, areas of Lancashire, Yorkshire and Durham and Wales at 3pm before clearing.

Temperature maps from WX Charts show Thursday could begin with freezing temperatures, with areas of 0C widespread and other areas experiencing lows of -1C and -2C.

In its weather forecast for Wednesday night (March 12), the Met Office said: “Showers will continue to affect many eastern and some northeastern areas this evening and overnight, wintry in places.

“Elsewhere mostly dry with clear periods, allowing a frost to develop.

“Some icy patches too.”

Meanwhile for its Thursday forecast, the forecaster said: “Frost clearing to leave another chilly day with sunshine and showers, the showers most widespread across central, eastern and far northern parts of the UK.

“Some western areas largely dry.”
