A new coffee shop is set to open in the city centre this morning (Monday, March 10) with buy-one-get-one-free ‘hand-crafted beverages’ all day.

Lab Coffeeworks is set to open at 7:30am at the Billiards Building on Edmund Street.

Little has been revealed about the business in the run-up to the launch but posts on its Instagram page suggest it’s part of the Caffe Kix group of coffee shops.

As well as coffee, the store has shared sneak peeks of cakes and sweet treats online.

The Billiards Building was revitalised in 2023 and into the start of 2024 when it was rebranded from 134 Edmund Street to the Billiards Building as a nod to its heritage.

Lab Coffeeworks shares the building with other residents such as West Midlands Trains, consulting firm Alvarez and Marsal and Anthony Collins solicitors.

The business district lost a long-established coffee shop last spring.

Urban Coffee left its Church Street building after 15 years in April 2024 and has since been replaced by Tiger Bites Pig, a restaurant known for its bao buns that upgraded its city centre offering after ‘outgrowing’ its Stephenson Street spot.
