Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright are expecting a baby

Mark Wright revealed he was ‘excited’ to welcome his first child with his Ten Pound Poms star wife, Michelle Keegan.

The couple, who have been married since 2015, announced they were expecting a baby three months ago.

They broke the news by sharing a sun-soaked snap of themselves on a Spanish beach with fans, showing the Fool Me Once actress proudly cradling her bump.

Now, as Michelle, 37, prepares to give birth, Mark, 38, has opened up about his approach to fatherhood, and his own upbringing.

Mark, who found fame on The Only Way Is Essex, said the family values instilled in him by his parents – Mark Sr and Carol – would shape the way he brought up his children.

He also paid tribute to Michelle’s mum and dad, Michael Keegan and Jackie Turner, revealing they had both benefited from having “good parents”, EssexLive reports.

Sharing his feelings on becoming a dad, the Heart Radio DJ told The Sun: ”I’m just excited for the whole process.

“I’m just really excited and can’t wait for it to happen.

“A parent shapes you. If you haven’t got a good upbringing, you can still end up being a good person but if you’ve got good parents, like we have, you’re going out into life [with] a massive head start.”

He continued: “My dad is everything you’d dream [of] in a dad.

“He’s always put us first, no matter what, whether that was financially or in terms of love and care.

“We’ve always felt so loved, and that’s one of the most important things for any parent – to make your child feel loved and to [let] them know [you’re] there.”

Michelle has chosen to embrace a low-profile during her pregnancy, dedicating her time to self-care and savouring the calm before becoming a mum.

Her due date has also been kept under wraps, with fans eagerly guessing whether it will be a boy or girl joining them.

The new series of Ten Pound Poms starts at 9pm on Sunday, March 9. Catch it on BBC One or iPlayer.
