Ghulam Haider, of Dudley, has been remanded to appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court following the tragic death of Cliff Tamou
A 22-year-old man has been charged with causing the death of a lorry driver on the M6, according to police.
Ghulam Haider, from Dudley, was charged this morning (March 8) with causing the death of Clifford Tamou by dangerous driving.
Rugby coach Mr Tamou, from Wigan, died following a collision between a Toyota Avensis and a white MAN Truck HGV on Thursday evening, February 27.

He was standing outside his HGV at the time after breaking down between J16 and J15 on the southbound carriageway.
Tragically, Mr Tamou died at the scene.
He was a ‘devoted’ dad-of-six and well-known community rugby figure.
In a statement issued on X today (March 8), Staffordshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) announced that Haider had been charged.
The police force said the 22-year-old had been charged with causing death by dangerous driving alongside using a vehicle without insurance.
Haider previously appeared at North Staffordshire Justice Centre and was remanded into custody to appear at Stoke Crown Court on April 7.
Staffordshire SCIU said: “Man remanded following fatal collision.
“Ghulam Haider, 22, from Dudley was charged this morning with causing the death of Clifford Tamou by dangerous driving following a fatal collision on the M6 in Stoke on 27/02/25.
“He was also charged with using a vehicle without insurance.”
The account added: “Specialist officers continue to support the family of Mr Tamou.”
In a tribute issued on Tuesday (March 4), Mr Tamou’s family said: “Cliff Tamou, 58, who moved to the UK over 30 years ago from New Zealand and settled in the Wigan area, was a devoted husband, father to six children and five grandchildren.
“He was a lorry driver for many years and loved playing, refereeing and coaching rugby.
“The family have asked for their privacy to be respected in this very sad time.”
