A man tried to leave the Sainsbury’s store with items he had not paid for and was confronted by a security guard who the robber then punched

Police have launched an appeal to find a man after a security guard was attacked in a Midlands supermarket robbery.
The incident took place at the Sainsbury’s store in Swanpool Walk in St John’s, Worcester on Tuesday, February 18.
A man attempted to leave the shop without paying for items at around 3.30pm.
A security guard stepped in to challenge him and was punched in the face before fleeing the area.

West Mercia Police has issued an image of a man its officers would like to speak to.
The man is white, with short brown hair and is pictured wearing a black jacket.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “We would like to speak to this man as we believe he can help with our enquiries into a robbery in Worcester on Tuesday, 18 February.
“Around 3.30pm a man attempted to leave Sainsburys on Swanpool Walk without paying for items.
“Security stopped the man and recovered the property, however the man hit the security guard in the face before leaving the area.
“Officers are keen to speak to the man pictured as it is thought he was in the area at the time and may be able to help with enquiries.”
