The City of Doncaster Council has been given almost £3million to share among residents in need as part of its latest round of the Household Support Fund.

The HSF, from the Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ) will end on March 31. The City of Doncaster Council has decided to provide a one-off payment to households who receive any of the following: Housing Benefit, Local Council Tax Reduction,, Universal Credit which includes the housing element, or means-tested free school meals.
A one-off payment will be made to those who make an application and who meet the eligibility criteria above. Payment will be, for Working-Age Households, a £75 payment to childless households; £150 payment to households with 1 or 2 dependent children; or £225 payment to households with 3 or more dependent children.

Pensioner Households will receive a £50 payment to households receiving, or are entitled to Pension Credit; or £150 payment to households not receiving and not entitled to Pension Credit. In addition, £75k has been allocated to support Doncaster’s Food Banks and Hygiene Bank.
The council said: “Most households that received a payment under the previous Household Support Fund and who still meet the above criteria were paid automatically and did not have to apply. Payment was made by 13 December 2024 using the information previously provided.
“Households that did not receive a payment under the previous Household Support Fund, or that did not receive an automatic payment but are eligible, must submit an online application. The online application opened on 5 December 2024, and will close on Friday 28 February 2025 at 5pm. Applications cannot be accepted after the closing date/time.
“You must let us know straight away if your bank details change, or if you want us to pay direct into your bank instead of a sending you a cheque. We can then make sure that any awards from future funds are paid correctly.
“If you want to report a change, Please email householdsupportfund@doncaster.gov.uk and provide your name, National Insurance Number, your full address, your bank sort code, account number and name of the account holder. You do not need to email us if your details remain the same.”
