Arrests as police probe Range Rover theft and collision


Three people have been arrested after a collision in Hednesford

Three men have been arrested after a car suspected of being linked to the theft of another vehicle was involved in a collision in Hednesford.

Staffordshire Police started an investigation after a Range Rover was stolen without keys from an address on Cannock Road, in Burntwood, at around 8pm, on Friday, February 21.

Then a black Kia Niro believed to be linked to the theft failed to stop for officers from West Midlands Police, near to Clarion Way, in Cannock, just after 8.10pm, the next day, Saturday, February 22.

Following a short pursuit, it was involved in a collision with a black Mercedes being driven by a member of the public on Station Road, Hednesford, police said.

West Midlands Ambulance Service and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene.

The driver and two occupants of the Kia and the driver and single occupant of the Mercedes were taken to hospital.

All injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Police have arrested three men, all from the Cannock area.

A 32-year-old man was held on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, conspiracy to steal a motor vehicle, theft of a motor vehicle, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, failing to stop a vehicle when required by a constable, possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A (cocaine) and possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class B (cannabis).

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, conspiracy to steal a motor vehicle, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs, failing to stop a vehicle when required by a constable, possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A (cocaine) and possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class B (cannabis).

A 19-year-old man on held on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, conspiracy to steal a motor vehicle, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs, failing to stop a vehicle when required by a constable, possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A (cocaine) and possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class B (cannabis).

All three have been released on bail whilst police enquiries continue.
