ITV’s Coronation Street has been subject to schedule change chaos, which has left fans gutted as the broadcaster pulls the programme.

In a typical week, the soap airs every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for a full hour on ITV1, with episodes also dropping on ITVX from 7am.

However, this Friday night (21st February) that will not be the case, as ITV has booted it in place of a sporting event.

In its place will be the UEFA Women’s National League, kicking off at 7.30pm and continuing until 10pm.

Understanding fans’ dismay, ITV broadcast an additional episode earlier this week on Tuesday, 18th February, meaning the typical three episodes did air.

The Tuesday episode is available to watch on ITVX in case fans missed it.

Sharing their outrage, fans of the Weatherfield drama posted on X: “FFS, does that mean Coronation Street isn’t on?” as another wrote: “They’ve cancelled Coronation Street for this!”

The show will return to its normal slot on Monday, 24th February, at 8pm.

However, viewers need to be prepared for more changes to come, as the soap will not air next Friday either and will instead be replaced with the FC Cup.

It’s not the first time fans have been left without the soap on a Friday night in recent weeks, as Friday night was replaced by Manchester United vs Leicester City as part of the FA Cup.

More changes are on the horizon as well, with ITV bosses recently announcing the entire schedule for the programme, along with Emmerdale, will soon be changing.

At the moment, Emmerdale airs every day at 7.30pm on ITV with a half-hour episode and a special hour episode each Thursday, while Corrie tries to remain consistent in its three-times-a-week slots.

Yet, in 2026, it will become the soap ‘power hour’, with Emmerdale airing for half an hour each day at 8pm and Coronation Street straight after at 8.30pm each day, for a half-hour as well.

While the episodes will be shorter, it will mean that viewers can visit Weatherfield every weekday.

However, on the flipside, there will be an hour less of Corrie each week, taking the usual six hours of content down to just five.
