Warning to drivers on M6 with 45 minutes delays after two-vehicle crash

Drivers were warned to expect around a 45-minutes delay tonight, Tuesday, February 18, after a two-vehicle collision on the M6.

Two lanes out of three were closed between junction six (for the A38M) and junction five (Castle Bromwich).

The incident happened on the southbound carriageway.

Emergency services were at the scene of the crash.

The nature of occupants injuries were not known at this time.

Traffic data monitor Inrix posted: “Severe delays and two lanes closed due to accident, two cars involved on M6 Southbound from J6 A38 Tyburn Road (Spaghetti Junction) to J4A (M42 Interchange).”

National Highways West Midlands posted on X: “2 lanes (of 3) are closed on the #M6 southbound in the #WestMidlands between J6 (#A38M) and J5 (#CastleBromwich) due to a collision.

“Emergency services are en-route to the scene. There’a a 30 minute delay on approach with 3 miles of congestion. Updates to follow.”

It later posted in an updated X: “2 lanes (of 3) remain closed on the #M6 southbound in the #WestMidlands between J6 (#A38M) and J5 (#CastleBromwich) due to a collision.

“All emergency services are now on the scene. There’s a 45 minute delay on approach with 3 and a half miles of congestion.”

Earlier delays on the same motorway, between J7 for Great Barr and J6 for the A38M, Birmingham, occurred due to a broken down lorry.
