New Street station train passengers face delays


Trains between Birmingham New Street and Lichfield Trent Valley and Bescot Stadium may be cancelled, changed or delayed by up to 30 minutes

Train passengers are facing disruption this evening following a signalling fault.

All lines between Birmingham New Street Station and Lichfield Trent Valley and Bescot Stadium in Walsall are blocked due to a system issue at Aston Station.

Disruption is expected to last until 7.30pm with trains running from the station cancelled or delayed by 30 minutes.

National Rail said: ” A fault with the signalling system at Aston means all lines are blocked.

“Trains between Birmingham New Street and Lichfield Trent Valley / Bescot Stadium may be cancelled, revised or delayed by up to 30 minutes.

“Disruption is expected until 19:30, you can check your journey using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.

“You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today.

“Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.”

West Midlands Railways said: “The line is blocked so are services are either cancelled or delayed.

“We are currently investigating alternative transport options, more info to come.”

National Express West Midlands said ticket acceptance is in place on their bus routes until further notice.

These include the 64, 65, 66, 67, 907, 907A, X3, X4, X5, X14 X64 services.
