Vipond isolated her from friends and family and attacked her on multiple occasions and refused to allow to be treated for her injuries, police said.
He was also given a five-year restraining order.
Speaking after the case, Pc Helen Eurell, from Redditch’s response team, said: “I wish to pass on my utmost respect to the victim, who has so bravely and patiently supported the investigation.
“She was subjected to serious domestic abuse behind doors, which did and still does, significantly impact her life.
“I hope the sentence and restraining order given to Vipond will provide the victim with a form of closure, and she can rebuild her life.
“Controlling and coercive behaviour is a relatively new offence, and I am pleased to see offenders like Vipond being brought to justice.
“I hope this gives confidence to others that police will take such allegations seriously and will do our best to bring offenders to justice.”
