The One Show viewers were treated to a Riverdance performance ahead of St Patrick’s Day, although one of the dancers took a tumble during the routine and fell to the ground

The One Show viewers rallied around a Riverdance performer after she took a tumble during a live performance on the show.

Presenters Clara Amfo and Lauren Laverne had kicked off the episode by chatting with actors Olly Rix, Robert Bathurst, and Mark Bonnar, before moving outside for the Riverdance performance, ahead of St Patrick’s Day.

However, just as the routine began, one of the dancers lost her footing and fell to the ground.

Despite the mishap, the dancer quickly got back to her feet and continued with the performance, earning praise from viewers on social media.

One viewer tweeted: “Poor lass but what a professional – smiling all the way.”

Another fan wrote: “Shout out to the girl who slipped during Riverdance and got back up and carried on! ! Fair play to her #TheOneShow #Riverdance”

Some viewers expressed concern about the stage, with one commenting: “Oh dear one of the girls just took a slip whilst performing on #TheOneShow to be fair the stage looked awfully unstable!”

Before taking to the stage, dancer Keeva shared the origins of the iconic Riverdance with BBC hosts.

She recounted how it debuted as an interval performance at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994, explaining: “A full show was brought to life in 1995, and we’ve kept going since! We’re bringing it back to London this year.”

Keeva, who wasn’t even born when Riverdance first made waves, expressed her awe at being part of the production now.

Discussing the enduring appeal of the show, Keeva attributed its success to the talented individuals involved: “I think the amazing people behind it.

“We’ve got our amazing composer, Bill Whelan and Moya and John, our producers.”

She continued, praising both past and present contributors: “All the performers and creatives that have gone before us and, of course, the new generation we have now and all of them coming up.”

In celebration of Riverdance’s 30th anniversary, Keeva highlighted their current tour and what audiences can anticipate: “It’s a huge spectacle, it’s not just Irish dancing, there’s amazing music, there are flamenco dancers, there are folk dancers.”

She added, “We’ve got brand new costumes, we’ve got brand new lighting and of course, it’s a new generation of people with lots of fresh energy.”
