Dancing On Ice favourite Mark Hanretty has confirmed he’s leaving the programme after being a staple for 12 series.

The skating pro has decided to call it a day, taking to social media to tell his fans about the “the end of an era”.

Mark, who has never won the ITV show but had his best year this year finishing second with Michaela Strachan, shared an emotional clip from the recent Dancing On Ice final.

The footage highlights Mark and his celebrity partner Michaela Strachan reflecting on their second-place finish in this year’s contest.

Posting the video, Mark wrote: “End of an era for me!”

He continued to express his gratitude: “So grateful to all the people in front and behind camera who have made my 12 seasons on @dancingonice such a joy! Very grateful!”

Devoted fans have rushed to wish Mark well, lamenting his departure from the ice skating challenge show. One fan mentioned: “Best of luck with what comes next. You are going to be missed. It won’t be the same without you.”

Another fan remarked: “You will be much missed on #DancingOnIce Mark. You were not only the best professional who was mesmerising to watch onscreen but also a lovely person to all your partners. It won’t be the same without you and I will miss seeing you.”

Mark had previously announced last October that the 2025 series would mark his farewell tour on Dancing On Ice.

The Scottish-born ice skater said at the time: “This will be my last year as a pro skater and I’m eager to soak up every second of it!”.

Mark began figure skating in 1995 and represented Great Britain in the sport before joining the Dancing On Ice team of professionals in 2011.
