Alison Hammond has opened up about rejecting a big opportunity with the BBC, stating she “doesn’t want to do it”.

Since her first television appearance on Big Brother in 2002, Alison, at 50 years of age, boasts an impressive repertoire, including finishing in 10th place on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2014 and plunging into the jungle for I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in 2010.

Now a prominent figure on our screens, Alison co-hosts This Morning with Dermot O’Leary and partners with Noel Fielding on the iconic Great British Bake Off. During the Smart TV podcast, however, Alison disclosed that she’s steering clear of appearing on Bargain Hunt, reports Plymouth Live.

Gyles Brandreth, the broadcaster and ex-MP, sang praises for Bargain Hunt as part of his ideal evening viewing lineup. Discussing his own appearance on the show, Gyles said, “I have been on, because I’m such a big fan, they invited me to take part, in an old codgers vs young people.”

Gyles expressed his adoration for the show by saying: “Bargain Hunt is the most reliable, feel-good show I know, it’s intelligent, the presenters are delightful, and the game is clever. Essentially, yes, you’re sent out, given an hour to buy three items, one of them has to cost £75 and you have to sell them and make a profit, it’s quite difficult to do.”

He continued: “During the course of the show, if you like antiques and collectibles, which I do, you do learn about that. But also, it reminds you how most people in this country are lovely, they have every type of person there.”

TV personality Alison Hammond recently opened up on her lack of enthusiasm for the hit series Bargain Hunt, candidly remarking: “I have been asked to do Bargain Hunt, I don’t want to do it, and I don’t want to watch it.”

Alison, renowned for her humour, also shared her reluctance to tune into Billy Bunter, a vintage series about a portly schoolboy: “I don’t want to be watching anything about fat kids, I’ve been a fat kid all my life.”

The beloved This Morning presenter has not shied away from discussing her impressive 11-stone weight loss journey. Opening up about her past struggles with weight, Alison revealed: “I was nearly 28 stone I’ll be honest with you and that is morbidly obese. And I used to buy an extra seat (on planes) because I didn’t want to put anyone in a situation where I was touching them.”

Attributing her transformation to a healthier lifestyle, she detailed her approach to diet and fitness, which includes walking and training sessions: “Twice a week I see my personal trainer, and I have a couple of weights in my bedroom. I walk, I stretch, and sometimes I do a bit of yoga.”

Engaging in varied physical activities keeps her motivated: “I try to vary it so it’s not the same every day. After a session at the gym, I think I’m Venus Williams, with all those endorphins pumping around. If I miss a session or two with my trainer, I notice it. The kick you get out of the way you feel is so good.”
