Motorcyclist killed in fatal crash with car on Edgbaston road


Police investigating after the motorcycle rider, a woman in her 20s, sadly died at the scene

Police have launched an investigation after a motorcyclist was killed in a Birmingham crash.

The rider, a woman in her 20s, died at the scene in Frederick Road, Edgbaston after a collision with a car.

The incident took place at around 2.15pm on Saturday afternoon, March 8.

Members of the public and paramedics tried to save the woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has been informed and are being offered police support.

The driver of the car involved, a woman in her 40s, remained at the scene and is said to be helping with the police probe.

Police urged anyone with information or dashcam footage to get in touch. A spokesperson for the force said: “We are investigating after a motorcyclist died following a collision with a car on Frederick Road, Edgbaston, at about 2.15pm yesterday (Saturday).

“Despite the best efforts of paramedics and members of public, the rider in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The driver of the car involved, who is in her 40s, remained at the scene and is helping with our investigation.

“The family of the motorcyclist have been informed and are being offered support at this most dreadful time. We have spoken with witnesses and are reviewing CCTV as we establish the full circumstances of the collision.
