Hannah Haynes, 29, was desperate to have her father Maurice, 69, with her on her big day and she knew he had always wanted to walk her down the aisle
A bride managed to plan her wedding in less than a day so that her terminally ill father could walk her down the aisle.
Hannah Haynes, 29, rushed into action because she didn’t want Maurice Haynes, who is currently receiving care at St Giles Hospice in Whittington, to miss out.
Maurice, 69, was diagnosed with terminal tonsil cancer in October 2024. With the assistance of hospice staff, Hannah and her partner Josh, also 29, were able to organise their special day in under 24 hours.

The hospice’s chapel was transformed into a beautiful venue, complete with bunting and candles.
On February 18, Maurice, from Cannock, walked his daughter down the aisle in an emotional moment captured on video.
Hannah expressed her gratitude towards St Giles, saying: “What St Giles have done for my dad is unbelievable.”
She added: “Having our wedding in a hospice wasn’t the norm, however having dad there to walk down the aisle, it didn’t matter where I was getting married, so long as he was there.”

Leon Ratcliffe, interim director of clinical services at St Giles Hospice, said: “It was such an honour to help create a very special moment for Maurice, Hannah, and their family.
“We wish Hannah and Joshua a long and happy marriage and thank them for allowing us to be a part of such a memorable occasion.
“Hannah was determined that her father would be part of her wedding day, and we were delighted to assist in making that happen.”
