Shop targeted in £7,500 smash-and-grab in Tamworth town centre


A large amount of cash and expensive equipment has been stolen from Ace Barbers in George Street in the heart of Tamworth

A barber shop in Tamworth has been targeted by thieves in an overnight raid this week.

The raider broke into Ace Barbers shop off George Street in the town centre.

The break-in took place some time from when it closed at 6pm on Wednesday (February 26) to when it reopened at 9am on Thursday (February 27).

A burglar has smashed a window to gain access to the shop.

And once inside, they stole more than £5,000 in cash and also stole equipment worth £2,500.

Staffordshire Police is investigating the incident but is asking for any witnesses to what went on to come forward.

A spokesperson for Tamworth Police said: “We are appealing for information in relation to a burglary at a business in Tamworth town centre.

“Between 6pm on 26th February and 9am on February 27, unknown offenders have forced access to Ace Barbers on George Street.

“They have gained access by smashing a window.

“The offenders have stolen over £5,000 in cash and £2,500 worth of equipment.”

The statement continued: “Enquiries are underway and we are linking in with other local businesses etc regarding CCTV.

“If anyone witnessed anything or has any relevant information then please contact us on 101 or via the Live Chat on the Staffordshire Police website.

“Or online form on the website quoting incident number: 242 of 27/02/2025.”
