Police explain why emergency services are at St Andrew’s and say ‘no need to worry’


Police activity will increase around the stadium tonight

West Midlands Police has warned residents who live near St Andrew’s that they may see a number of emergency vehicles around the stadium tonight (February 27).

But the force added there is “no need” for anyone “to worry” by the noticeable increase in police activity around Birmingham City’s ground.

Officers, working with partners, will simply be carrying out a training exercise inside the 29,000-seat stadium.

Police vehicles will likely be seen around Knighthead Park.

Despite this, the force has promised locals that there’s “no risk to the public”.

It also thanked the football club and residents “for their support”.

Birmingham Police issued the warning this evening on social media platform X.

A spokesperson for the force: “There’s no need to worry if you see emergency vehicles around St Andrews and Knighthead Park tonight.
