The hit ITV game show ends with a final question that only 1% of the British public can answer correctly

The 1% Club returned on Saturday night with a fiendishly difficult final question featuring a hidden code that players had to crack.

The ITV game show sees 100 contestants vying to win a top prize of up to £100,000. But they have to answer a series of increasingly difficult logic-based questions to win.

The first question, based on the show’s research, is one that 90% of the British public can get right.

But the tricky final question can only be answered by 1% – and the latest final question left many at home completely stumped.

Host Lee Mack explained the answer – but can you answer it correctly?

The final 1% question was: “Peter has recently found his old diary that he’d written in secret code but he can’t remember how to decipher what he wrote.

“Can you crack the code to find out what the underlined word is? WH89 I GR1W UP I WA92 21 B8 A 5L1RI72.”

Only four contestants managed to make it to the final question on the show, playing for a share of £93,000.

Two failed to answer, while two managed to get it right, meaning they both left the show with a whopping £46,500.

Lee Mack revealed that the answer was: WHEN I GROW UP I WANT TO BE A FLORIST.

The explanation? Where he could, he replaced a letter with a digit that starts with that letter.

The 1% Club won’t be on our screens next week as The Brit Awards takes its place in the schedule.
