A closure order for a flat block where nearly half a dozen people have died has been extended for a further three months.
Since 2023, there have been five deaths at Warwick House in Nuneaton, four of which were found to be drug-related.
Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council obtained a closure order on Warwick House in Bond Gate last November.
An extension to the order was granted until mid-May 2025, meaning anyone person found inside the premises faces up to 50 weeks in prison.
The closure order is designed to prevent ‘disorderly, offensive, or criminal behaviour on the premises and serious nuisance to members of the public.
It also covers trouble nearby ‘associated with the use of the property’ on Bond Gate.

Insp Ryan Walker, of Nuneaton and Bedworth Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We still have concerns around the safety of Warwick House and sought an extension to the closure order while we consult with the landlord on how improvements can be made to the premises.
“Making and keeping our towns safer remains a priority for us, and we’ll continue to work hard with partners to understand where vulnerabilities lie in our communities.”
Some of the previous residents were found to be linked to antisocial behaviour issues in the town centre while some were believed to have committed offences in Warwick House.
Many of the property’s residents were vulnerable members of the community with additional needs in relation to their mental health and required medical support. Insp Walker had said the residents would be properly rehoused and supported.
