Acting power couple Glynis Barber and Michael Brandon will appear together on the BBC’s Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, giving viewers a glimpse into their life.

Glynis is best known for playing Norma Crow in Hollyoaks and Glenda Mitchell in EastEnders, while Michael can be seen in Showtime’s Episodes and Captain America: The First Avenger.

The couple have been married for 35 years, and while it’s domestic bliss today, when Glynis first met Michael, she thought he was “obnoxious” and a “nightmare”.

The pair met on the show Dempsey and Makepeace back in 1985, with the two serving in the lead roles.

Looking back at their first meeting, the former EastEnders star said: “I didn’t know Michael at all, so I didn’t know that he was already practising his character and I just thought he was completely obnoxious.

“He was really loud, yelling at the top of his voice. I had a boyfriend at the time and I went home and said, ‘That man is a nightmare, I don’t know how I’m going to work with him’.”

However, her opinion of Michael soon changed, with the couple tying the knot in 1989.

Glynis said: “Michael and I have always had a very up and down, passionate, quite volatile relationship… I suppose we have mellowed, but it’s still quite volatile.

“I don’t know, maybe that’s the secret? The one thing is that it’s never boring.”

The couple has a son together, Alexander Mac Brandon, who was born in 1992, three years after their marriage.

Before Michael, Glynis was married to Paul Anthony-Barber for three years between 1976 and 1979.

The two have not revealed much about their marriage, rather choosing to keep the details to themselves.

Paul is an actor as well, known for Hereafter and House of Anubis, with his biggest role being that of Valerie’s (played by Natasha Wightman) father in the film V for Vendetta.

Celebrity Antiques Road Trip will air tonight on BBC Two at 7pm.
