A street drinker was jailed after he was caught flouting a public alcohol ban. Stephen Cheshire was previously served with a Criminal Behaviour Order in a bid to stop him drinking in Atherstone town centre in Warwickshire.
But police officers found Cheshire, 63, drinking outside a church on Sheepy Road on September 2, 2024.
Cheshire, of Kingswood Road in Nuneaton, was sentenced to two months in prison and ordered to pay a victim’s surcharge of £154 at Warwickshire Magistrates Court.

Sgt Adam Skelsey said “We use Criminal Behaviour Orders as a final warning against people who commit anti-social behaviour repeatedly and cause problems for our communities.
He added: “On this occasion, Cheshire has ignored this warning.”

“Atherstone residents will be spared his presence for two months as a result, and hopefully when he returns Cheshire will have corrected his behaviour.”
An area which includes Long Street and Sheepy Road in Atherstone was identified as a hotspot for anti-social behaviour.
The area has been targeted by patrols and in December 2024, four incidents were reported compared to a three-year average of just under six.
