Mark, known as The Beast, refused to hold back as he slammed social media critics in a brutal and scathing Twitter, or X, takedown.
ITV The Chase star Mark Labbett has hit out at critics who are “infesting” the quiz show. Mark, known as The Beast, refused to hold back as he slammed social media critics in a brutal and scathing Twitter, or X, takedown.
He wrote: “For the trolls infesting this this hashtag, the average team over the years plays for 22k and sets 16. To win 19 is the realistic target #TheChase.” Mark is one of six Chasers used by the show, which is hosted by Bradley Walsh.
The other Chasers include Darragh Ennis, as well as Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty and Paul Sinha. The list is completed by Jenny Ryan. In response to Mark’s brutal and scathing, defiant post, fans on Twitter (now X) rushed to have their say.

“It should be a bit of entertaining fun with a chance of making a few quid :),” a fan replied. “I don’t know what this is Mark, but great game this evening on,” said another. A third typed: “After watching the Chase enough times, I know that to put a Chaser under pressure, you need to get 20 to 25, or hope the Chaser is not on form.”
“Actually played it really well. 18 was a great score, and, to catch it without a wrong answer (with 28 seconds remaining) is very impressive,” another said. “You was amazing 18 on the trout with 28 seconds to that was great,” wrote another.
“I always thought you need equivalent of net 22/23 (including push backs) as a marker you’d win more than you’d lose,” another commented. And another said: “How many times are you gonna go through this routine Mark. Hasn’t the chase been on long enough already? It’s so repetitive.”
And another chimed in to say: “The Beast commending Jeanette for going low… Anne doing the same, earlier in this week. They’ve turned into Walter the Softies! #thechase.”
